March is Women's History Month, and Tuesday, March 8, is International Women's Day. During this time, the world takes special note of strong women across the globe and their achievements in social, political, economic, and cultural realms. This year the theme is "Providing Healing, Promoting Hope," and appropriately focuses on caregivers and frontline workers, and International Women's Day focuses this year on gender equality and the importance of recognizing and eliminating biases of all kinds.

Ironically, International Women's Day was started in 1917 by Russian women as a protest to express their desire for bread and peace, and eventually led to the Russian Revolution. Even then, the people of Russia wanted peace. They would certainly be horrified now to see that the brutality of the Russian government is still a strong presence.

Is there a woman among us who is not aware of the strength we as women possess? This very strength, drive, and determination, combined with the unspoken realization that although men possess many of the same traits and powers that women do, we know that the world is driven by the often behind-the-scenes work of women.

So, it's time for us to pause in the middle of our multi-tasking and commemorate and elevate ourselves. In honor of women everywhere who have blazed the trail as suffragists, politicians, artists, and inventors, please consider any or all of these suggestions about how to celebrate the incredible women that we are.
