VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY WITH SENATOR JULIA KIRT-WOMEN BUILD for HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Senator Julia Kirt is serving as honorary co-chair of the Women Build for Habitat for Humanity this year. Last week a group of women legislators kicked off the build and it was a blast.
Senator Kirt wanted to invite the EDW crew to join her on Saturday, July 9 (8 am-2 pm).
Women Build Events provide an opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving our communities. These opportunities are available across the US and any woman who wants to learn how to build and construct a home is invited to join us. No experience is necessary. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals and alongside other volunteers and future habitat owners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved and improves the community that we share. Women helping Women sends a positive and powerful message. It can be a terrific way to involve your friends or family members or come alone and make new friends. The atmosphere is friendly and collaborative. Once you are signed up, the specific job address will be sent out about a week out from the volunteer day. The job is in the Central Oklahoma Area. You do not need your own tools. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are required for your safety, work gloves and safety glasses will be provided if you don’t have your own.
