League of Women Voters State Gala

At this year's Gala, the League will honor Oklahoma's independent, nonpartisan news outlets which hold public officials accountable, counter misinformation, protect freedom of expression, and enable informed decision making. Independent news provides the foundation of a strong democracy.

Our keynote speaker is Ziva Branstetter who leads a team of national investigative reporters at ProPublica. Ziva previously was on staff at the Tulsa World, Reveal and The Washington Post, in addition to founding The Frontier, an investigative news site serving Oklahoma. Earlier this year, a ProPublica team that included Ziva won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for the series “Life of a Mother”.
