It’s hard to cover the topic of Civil Rights as it relates to Project 2025, because almost every section of the document contains different assaults on civil rights. From higher education to the very definition of family, this overarching document has the potential to change every single facet of American life.
Colleges will be allowed to discriminate against students based on their race and sex. This would mean some students would be treated unfairly when applying to college, limiting opportunities for marginalized groups. Colleges will no longer be forced to accept diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. (352)
Project 2025 would allow religious organizations to discriminate against people they don't agree with, which would violate the rights of those people, particularly those from marginalized communities. (586)
The Supreme Court's Bostock v Clayton County’s application of sex discrimination protections to sexual orientation and transgender status in the context of hiring and firing would be eliminated, which would allow employers to more easily hire and fire based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
